The Dogs Were Stray Once Again
Hey gang,
So it happened again. We’ve been kicked out of our rehearsal room right in the middle of an album recording process. Again. Yeah.
This almost feels like 2020 again, when we were recording “A Call To Love” and neighbors complained so much about the volume that the poor landlord had no other option but to kick us out. We haven’t even started with the guitars, but it was impossible for us to stay there. Honestly, we didn’t think the drum takes were THAT bad, but okay – the senior connesiours have spoken.
So yes, it kinda feels like that all over again, thankfully without the global pandemic this time. This time, however, we’re pretty glad it’s happening. We wanted to have our own place for a while now and this was just the kick in the butt we needed. There’s nothing wrong with sharing your rehearsal space with other people, but having your own room means more flexibility, more rehearsals, more recording, more songs, more albums, more goodness. We daydreamed about this for awhile and now it’s here. World peace at last.
To say that the past three months have been really busy is an understatement. Everything started in late November and, true to our style, we pretty much DIY’d the whole thing (special thanks to Boris, Anto’s cousin, for the dry walls, and Roma for electricity – don’t DIY electricity unless you’re an Electric Messiah). It’s mid-February now, and we just had our first rehearsal in our new room yesterday. It went great, the room sounds great, we played at our usual volume, and no one complained. What more can a band ask for, really?
The funny thing is, this place is just around the corner from the one we got kicked out of in 2020. Hopefully, history won’t repeat itself. It better spiral out instead. Gah, these puns today.
Anyhow, if you’re reading this, it means you care enough about us to read about our new rehearsal room, and that means a lot to us (unless you’re a prying little fuck, in that case: have a great day!). It took us a bit less than 100 days to get here, now we’re off to finish that damn vocal tracking for the new album finally. We’ll share some more news about that whole thing, hopefully soon.
Here are some shots from the new room, a little window in time.
We’re playing at cafe Carina in our neighborhood on March 24th, feel free to come by and ask us for construction advice!
See you there and take care until then!
Peace.
